French know-how exported to China!
This year Imaginove will be present once again at Hong Kong’s FILMART, March 19-22, 2012, in partnership with the Ile de France commission.
Its task will not only be to enhance visibility for the French company delegates it will accompany, but also to promote our region and its skill sets in this other part of the world, since it is there that the deciders convene (Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia). French companies must thus be present to showcase their skills and envision potential joint business endeavors.
It’s true that, thanks to the April 2010 French-Chinese agreement signed between the two countries, there’s a lovely future ahead for French-Chinese co-productions.
For the French, with film co-productions they have the advantage of opening up to the booming Chinese market, ensuring that their productions will not be viewed as simple foreign films, allowing them to more easily attain Chinese box office numbers.
For the Chinese, in addition to their being able to integrate the French expertise that they sometimes lack – especially in technical spheres – through co-producing films with France they can access funding from the CNC (Centre National du Cinema et de l’Image Animée) for example, or benefit from grants and tax incentives, as if these were 100% French productions. An interesting deal…
This is why Imaginove will be on its toes this year, strengthening the ties to Hong Kong authorities that developed after last year’s promising exchanges.
In addition, at present, Imaginove is working with one of its members to design a conference for the Digital Media encounters. Something to keep an eye on!
