For the 16th year, the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (aka Filmart, March 19-22), has continued to expand: the world’s producers, service-providers and broadcasters were all present and accounted for. All eyes are on Asia.
France is well represented there, with members of the Ile-de-France commission and the Imaginove competitive cluster:
This year again, Imaginove partnered with the Ile-de-France Film Commission, sharing a stand to showcase French know-how, banking on Asians’ appetites for all-things-French and hoping for a wider market opening.
Several production and service companies embarked on the journey as well: Alterego, Bayoo, Clandestine Films, CMC, Digimage, le Domaine de Chantilly, Kanibal Films, Kode Agency, Panache Animation, Acela, 2 Open Gates, les Machineurs, CITIA.
For Mickael Marin, director of the Annecy animation film market, Hong Kong is a strategic port of entry into the Asia-Pacific region and therefore this venue is perfect for meeting a great number of producers and broadcasters hungry for content.
What are Imaginove’s impressions after its participation in Filmart this year?
What are the challenges of this approach, and what are the international targets for the cluster? A few words with Marie Soufflot, the cluster’s head of international relations:
“Imaginove’s participation in Filmart is in view of helping entities acquire visibility in Asia. The fact that 2 heavyweights are present side by side is not easily overlooked. Likewise, our connection with the Taipei Film Commission paves the way for direct contacts with Asian companies. An example of this are the B-to-B meetings organized between the Imaginove and Ile-de-France Commission companies and the Asian firms invited by the Taipei Film Commission, resulting in thirty appointments. Something to keep an eye on.”
