In our last Newsletter we had already written about this ambitious “made-in-Lyon” project, and today the game’s release dates have been set. After testing the new game demo we can certainly say that this new property will undoubtedly exceed all expectations!
Dishonored is developed by the French Arkane Studios (Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic) and is graced by the talents of Sébastien Mitton and Viktor Antonov, its artistic directors. The latter is particularly renowned for his work, notably his visual work in Half-Life 2. It has taken nearly three years of pre-production and an astronomical amount of drawings and photos to design this world where the city of Dunwall serves as the main backdrop of events.
A Close-Up Look at Arkane Studios
At Arkane, we’re driven by our dreams. Founded in 1999, Arkane is located in Lyon, France and Austin, Texas. The company came out with its first game, Arx Fatalis, in 2002. Thanks to its highly-innovative magic system and its dense and immersive environment, Arx Fatalis helped Arkane carry off a number of prizes, such as the Rookie Studio of the Year nomination at the 2003 GDC awards. Then Arkane developed Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, a game reputed for its totally novel system of first-person combat, leading to its being voted in by IGN readers as Best PC Action Game in 2006. After that, Arkane likewise contributed to a number of AAA titles such as Bioshock 2 and Call of Duty: World at War (multiplayer).
In August 2010 Arkane Studios joined the Zenimax group, alongside Bethesda and ID Software.
Today Arkane continues to innovate, exploring new gaming concepts and technologies, still passionate about providing gamers with in-depth immersive experiences.
